Verrucae Treatments

Verrucae, commonly known as plantar warts, can be a persistent nuisance, causing discomfort and sometimes pain, especially when they develop on weight-bearing areas of the foot. At our clinic, we understand the frustration and inconvenience that verrucae can cause, which is why we offer a range of effective treatments tailored to your specific needs.

1. Salicylic Acid Treatment: This method is one of the most common ways to treat verrucae. Salicylic acid works by gradually removing the outer layers of dead skin, which often contain the virus causing the verruca. By exposing the affected area to salicylic acid, the body's immune system is triggered to recognize and eliminate the virus. Our podiatrists will carefully apply the treatment and provide guidance on how long it should remain in place. Unlike over-the-counter treatments, our clinic offers stronger formulations for more effective results.

2. Verrutop: For those seeking an alternative to traditional treatments, Verrutop offers a promising solution. This relatively new medication utilizes a Nitrizinc complex to dry up and desiccate verrucae, aiding in cell death and subsequent removal. After reducing the overlying hard skin, Verrutop is applied to the verruca, typically with minimal discomfort. Our podiatrists will guide you through the application process and address any concerns you may have.

3. Verruca Needling: This advanced treatment option is particularly suitable for individuals seeking a swift and effective solution. During verruca needling, the podiatrist uses a specialized technique to push verruca cells deeper into the skin layers, triggering an immune response. Over the following weeks, the body naturally eliminates the verruca as part of the healing process. Many patients experience minimal discomfort and impressive results after just one treatment.

Our experienced podiatrists will assess your verrucae and discuss the most suitable treatment options tailored to your individual needs and preferences. We prioritize your comfort and well-being throughout the treatment process, ensuring that you receive the care and support you deserve on your journey to healthier, happier feet. If you're tired of dealing with verrucae, schedule an appointment with us today to explore effective solutions and take the first step towards relief.

Nail Surgery

This procedure is performed by Podiatrists to address various nail-related issues, particularly those that are painful, recurrent or potentially harmful to the patients foot health. A previous consultation is required to discuss the treatment options and aftercare package.

Nail surgery is performed under local anaesthesia to numb the affected area and minimise pain during the procedure. The Podiatrists will carefully trim or remove the ingrown portion of the nail, often referred to as partial nail avulsion. Phenol can be applied to the exposed nail matrix to destroy it, preventing the regrowth of the ingrowing portion of the nail. The surgical site is then dressed and bandaged. Patients are provided with instructions for post-operative care and will need to return for follow-up visits to monitor healing.

Nail surgery is generally considered a safe and effective way to address nail problems that have not responded well to conservative treatments. However, like any surgical procedure, it carries some risk, and proper post-op care is essential to prevent complications and promote healing.
